Belt & Road Chinese Center (BRCC) Indonesia, a Chinese language and culture center, officially held a Chinese University Entrance Examination for several Chinese State Universities designated by the Ministry of Education of China. Through this exam, BRCC aims to provide opportunities for Indonesian communities to obtain high-quality higher education on the international stage.

Exam Implementation

The Chinese University Entrance Examination was conducted on February 22, 2025, at Tarumanagara University, supported by the Tarumanagara Foundation and Xinya College. Around 400 participants came from various regions in Indonesia, including Jambi, Palembang, Lampung, Surabaya, Semarang, Makassar, Yogyakarta, Jabodetabek, and other cities.

“Through this exam, in addition to improving access to world-class higher education, we also aim to further strengthen relations between Indonesia and China, especially among the younger generation. We do this in the spirit of continuously enhancing ties between Indonesia and China, particularly on a societal level,” said BRCC Indonesia Director Veby Millian Kesuma S.S, MTCSOL.

Exam Stages

The Chinese University Entrance Examination process is divided into two stages: a written exam and an interview conducted by representatives from the participating Chinese universities. The exam can be taken in either English or Mandarin.

Three Participating Chinese Universities

The three Chinese universities participating in the Entrance Examination, along with the programs offered, are as follows:

  1. Beihang University (BUAA)
    (also known as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, BUAA)

    Beihang University is one of China’s leading institutions focusing on engineering, aeronautics, astronautics, and advanced technology. Established in 1952, Beihang University is renowned for its significant contributions to research and education in aviation and aerospace.

  2. CUPB (China University of Petroleum, Beijing)
    CUPB is a top-tier university in China emphasizing education and research in energy, petroleum, and related engineering fields. Founded in 1953, CUPB has gained international recognition for its technical and academic training in the energy sector. Equipped with modern facilities, professional faculty, and extensive international collaborations, CUPB is committed to producing graduates who contribute to innovation and sustainability in the energy industry.

  3. HEU (Harbin Engineering University)
    HEU is recognized as a premier higher education institution in China, focusing on maritime technology, ship engineering, nuclear engineering, and related scientific disciplines. Located in Harbin, the university has a global reputation for its research and development in maritime engineering and cutting-edge technologies. Through advanced facilities, competent academic staff, and international partnerships, HEU strives to produce innovative professionals who contribute to technological advancements across various sectors.

The Role of BRCC and Future Prospects

As an international organization aimed at promoting Chinese language and cultural learning worldwide, BRCC plays a vital role in preparing prospective international students interested in pursuing their studies in China. Through the Chinese University Entrance Examination, BRCC hopes to broaden access for Indonesian students who wish to study at China’s leading universities.
